Section of Large Animal Disease and Economic Animal Disease
Introduction
Clinic for large animals in our hospital is devoted to enhancing clinical medical quality, passing on teaching experience, and expanding in academic research fields. By achieving these purposes and referring to the latest discoveries both internal and abroad, the clinic continuously assists the development of large animal medicine in Taiwan. There are three subspecialty divisions in this department, namely, large animal disease, exotic pet disease and poultry disease. The clinic provides mainly home-visit veterinary services. Our service range includes large economic animals, such as cow, horse, goat/sheep, pig and deer. Furthermore, resident service is also available. Veterinarians would visit contracted farms for regular health checks, immune plans, etc. Service content comprises general health check, internal medicine, surgical medicine, laboratory examination, and imaging examination. For providing better clinical services, this clinic also consults with other special clinics in NTUVH. Cooperated with National Animal Industry Foundation, a Poultry Health Laboratory has been established in this animal hospital. Service includes serum antibody detection, fluff test, water quality test, and antimicrobial agent susceptibility test. This laboratory has supported industrial customers, governments, veterinarians and poultry farmers in sustainable business by providing animal health programs and laboratory testing facilities. The poultry disease teachers also offer extra services such as a collection service for samples and autopsy material and regular training courses.
