Section of Small Animal Surgery
Introduction
Our surgical section offers the high quality of surgical services (mainly dogs and cats). The services include general cases and referral from regular veterinarians over Taiwan area. Our surgeons attach importance to teaching, training, researching and developing the best care to companion. The surgical services are comprised of general/ soft tissue surgery, orthopedics/ reconstructive surgery, ophthalmology, dentistry, surgical oncology, neurology and acupuncture/ rehabilitation. General/ Soft tissue surgery led by senior surgeons deal with different parts of surgical diseases such as thorax, abdomen, urinary system. Orthopedics/ reconstructive surgery led by faculty deals with fracture, joint diseases and tissue reconstruction. Ophthalmology led by faculty offers professional diagnosis and treatments to general ocular diseases and referred cases. Neurology service is led by a Board certified neurologist dealing with diseases involving brain, spine, peripheral nerves and muscles. Acupuncture/ rehabilitation led by a qualified veterinary acupuncturist offers acupuncture, aquapuncture, electroacupuncture, laser acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) to treat paralysis and pain management. The facility includes four different state-of-the-art operation rooms which are one dental operation room, one ophthalmologic operation room, one orthopedic operation room and one soft tissue operation room. There are also one preparation room, one recovery room and six examination rooms. Our surgical section utilizes the latest equipments which contain anesthesia system, physiological monitoring system, endoscopy set, cryo surgery kit, fracture-reduction system, C- arm intraoperative fluoroscopy, slit- lamp biomicroscopy, digital tomometry, indirect/direct ophthalmoscopy, electroretinography (ERG), phacoemulsification device, surgical microscopy etc
